Every minute, 365 days a year, the equivalent of a truck full of plastic ends up in the sea. Recycling has proven to unfortunately be an insufficient practice to remedy the dramatic plastic pollution issue. Plastic production continues to constantly rise. This is why Greenpeace has recently launched the campaign #BreakFreeFromPlastic, asking large companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestlé, Unilever, Starbucks, Procter&Gamble, and McDonald’s to stop using single use plastic containers and wrappers.  Giuseppe Ungherese, director of the Pollution campaign for Greenpeace Italy, will participate in Festival SiciliAmbiente to present the film Plastic Whale, a Sky News documentary about the dramatic case of a whale found dead in the Northern seas, with a stomach full of 30 shopping bags, potato chip packets and ice cream wrappers.
