La storia di un lavoratore ci accompagna dentro la giungla guatemalteca, mostrando attraverso le immagini la potenza e la bellezza della natura, ma anche l’ottusità e il maschilismo del gruppo di lavoro, contrapposti alla sensibilità commovente del protagonista. Il film affronta un dilemma morale complesso tra la necessità della sopravvivenza e la distruzione dell’ambiente attraverso la deforestazione, intrecciandolo con il rapporto tra padre e figlia: il padre, pur cercando di garantire il proprio futuro, finisce per spezzare il sogno di avventura della figlia. Apprezzabile anche l’elemento di realismo magico, che trasforma il passaggio dal duro lavoro del boscaiolo al viaggio sulla luna in un percorso sospeso tra sogno e realtà.

The story of a worker takes us into the Guatemalan jungle, revealing through striking imagery both the power and beauty of nature, as well as the narrow-mindedness and machismo of the work crew, set against the protagonist’s touching sensitivity. The film explores a complex moral dilemma between the need for survival and the environmental destruction caused by deforestation, weaving it together with the relationship between a father and his daughter. In his attempt to secure a better future, the father ultimately ends up shattering his daughter’s dream of adventure. Also noteworthy is the element of magical realism, which transforms the transition from the harsh labor of logging to a journey to the moon into a path suspended between dream and reality.
