Grand Ciel

Sinossi: Vincent lavora di notte nel cantiere di un quartiere futuristico.
Quando un operaio scompare, Vincent e i suoi colleghi iniziano a sospettare che i loro superiori stiano insabbiando un incidente.
Ma presto scompare un altro operaio.

Synopsis: Vincent works the night shift on the construction site of a futuristic district. When a worker disappears, he and his colleagues begin to suspect that their superiors are covering up an accident. Soon, another worker disappears.

Biofilmografia: Davide Barletti e Lorenzo Conte sono tra i fondatori di Fluid Produzioni. Con Italian Sud Est partecipano alla 60° Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, nel 2008 firmano la sceneggiatura e regia di “Fine Pena Mai”. Tra i loro titoli abbiamo “Ritratto di Ettore Scola”, “Non c’era nessuna signora a quel tavolo” e nel 2017 il loro secondo lungometraggio di finzione “La guerra dei Cafoni” candidato come migliore sceneggiatura non originale ai David di Donatello 2018.

Biofilmography: Born in Japan in 1984, Akihiro Hata moved to France in 2003. After earning a degree in Film Studies from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, he joined the directing department at La Fémis, graduating in 2010. Since then, he has directed two mid-length films, Les Invisibles (2015) and On the Hunt (2016), both selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, as well as the documentary Solitary Body (2018). Grand ciel, written in collaboration with Jérémie Dubois and produced by Good Fortune Films in co-production with Les Films Fauves, is his first feature film.

Motivazioni giuria

Il film mostra come l’apartheid in Cisgiordania intrecci oppressione politica, identità personale e identità di genere. La tensione cresce durante questo spostamento in auto, in cui le difficoltà quotidiane si intrecciano con sfide straordinarie da affrontare e risolvere. Al centro della vicenda vi sono un ricatto e la ricer in ca di una via d’uscita, in un clima costante di sorveglianza e controllo. Il finale assume un forte valore simbolico: i coyotes si trasformano in strumenti di una giustizia primordiale, rappresentando una natura che si ribella all’occupante.

Jury motivations

The film shows how apartheid in the West Bank intertwines political oppression, personal identity, and gender identity. Tension builds during this car journey, where everyday difficulties become entangled with extraordinary challenges that must be confronted and resolved. At the heart of the story are blackmail and the search for a way out, set against a constant atmosphere of surveillance and control. The ending carries a powerful symbolic meaning: the coyotes become instruments of a primordial form of justice, representing nature itself rising up against the occupier.
