Who we are
SiciliAmbiente is an international festival of documentaries and, starting this year, of short movies and animations too, linked to environmental and sustainability themes. Promoted by the municipality of S. Vito lo Capo, by Demetra Productions and by the cultural association Cantiere 7, it came to its fifth edition.
The event is sponsored by the Italian National UNESCO Commission DESS (Decennial Sustainable Development Education Board). We will carry on with the twinning between our festival and Human Rights Festival of Buenos Aires, the collaboration with the Filmoteca Regionale Siciliana and, for the third year in a row, with the FINCA (International Festival of Environmental Cinema – Argentina). The aim is to guarantee a high level of works presented at SiciliAmbiente.
The firsts editions have gained much consensus and location undoubtedly helps. San Vito lo Capo, with its beautiful sea and its stunning sunsets, is the perfect location for a festival.
We want for our festival to contribute to the diffusion of a ‘sustainability culture’, based on an perspective of enduring development that could benefit all people worldwide, present and future. We want that tutelages of social nature, as human rights, health and fight to poverty will integrate with conservation demands for natural resources and ecosystems, finding reciprocal support. Again this year, various associations that work in fields as environmental, sustainability and human rights have confirmed their presence and their adherence to the festival. During those days, they will organize a series of initiatives with informative scope . We invite all of you to participate to the festival and to come and find us between the 17th and the 22nd of July at San Vito lo Capo.
