We are currently working on the fourth edition of SiciliAmbiente documentary film festival. We had a difficult last season but we managed to survive.
2011 Festival has been exciting in many respects: estimated by directors participating to the project and by the public filling the arena every night, it showed that the effort of all the staff has led to a great result.

This year, we have decided to expand the festival by joining a competitive section of animation and short-movies to the already running documentary competitive section. The choice of widening the competition was taken because of the raising number of short works and diversified languages in the audiovisual world that find little space in our country, both in films and television distributions. Moreover, short films and animations are often made by young authors that face cinema for the first time and I believe that the role a small festival must have is to enhance authorial realities.

The economic situation of our country makes it extremely difficult to organize cultural events that are appealing. Public bodies are increasingly reducing funding and it is almost impossible today to find sponsors in line with the festival’s principles, especially in Sicily where big businesses are scarce.

Six days of festival require a perfect organizational machine and a great passion for the job. Nonetheless, an adequate budget is needed in order to maintain the high quality level of projections and to guarantee hospitality to authors, artists and jury.
So, with deep regret, we have decided to introduce a minimal membership fee to adequately welcome our hosts and to offer several services to the festival public.

We wait for you all and we thank you for the popularity and the great trust you demonstrated in the past editions.

We invite directors to send us their works and to tourists and movies enthusiasts to come and find us between the 17th and the 22nd of July in the marvellous setting of San Vito lo Capo.
